BOOK REVIEW: Fusion by Nicole Williams

Fusion
The Patrick Chronicles #2
Nicole Williams

Patrick Hayward isn't used to feeling helpless. He's a man of action used to controlling his destiny. But falling in love with Emma Scarlett had a away of ending everything, his sanity included.

Locked away as inmate number one-three-seven-oh for a crime he didn't commit, Patrick spends his days slopping toxic sludge onto trays, resisting the urge to tear the scratchy, orange jumpsuit from his body and making sure every hardened criminal behind bars with him knows he's the biggest and baddest of them all. With the help of his handy little gift of teleportation, his nights are spent watching a certain green eyed goddess from the shadows.

When he discovers a couple of Inheritors stalking her one night, he realizes the obstacle of explaining who and what he is to Emma might not be the biggest battle they face.
Okay, so I am going to admit I am a crybaby over movies and silly situations and books. Yeah, over books that I think "physically" pinched my heart. And this is one of those books. Ohgod, yes this is definitely one of them.

When I read Fusion, it immediately went up to the top of my ridiculous long list of favourite books. Did I mention I have like, 30 books in my number 1 spot? No? Ooops. ;) So yeah, this two-book series is a paranormal type of a series but a series of this type never felt so humanly real. The emotions conveyed through words are too strong that I felt those words were actually touching some freaking emotions inside me. There is something in Nicole's use of words in this book that tugged my heart. I literally cried - bawled out, tear-streaming-down-my-cheek type of crying. I know that was somewhat over-the-top crazy for "normal" people. But what the heck, I long accepted the fact that I am not in league with normalcy.

I branded Nicole Williams a genius too many times for her own ego, but now I doubt it. Geniuses can be insensitive right? But with Nicole's writing I doubt this author is anywhere near being insensitive.

After reading Fusion, I honestly think that only a few books would ever -- ever! -- come close to what the effect of this book had on me. And that really says something being a bookworm that I am, there are a million books that I will have to come across with in my lifetime. I am sure for most, if not all, the people who have read it, this book is not a life-changing, world-altering, whatever-ing one. But for me, there is something in this book that I couldn't, but would love to, pinpoint. Whatever that is, that something had made sure this book is sitting on top of my greatest reads along with some other 30+ books. ;)

Thank you Nicole for this wonderful, otherworldly, two-book series. I can never get enough of Patrick Hayward but there is no other way to end his and Emma's story but this way. PERFECT.

Sweet holy mother of cows! I love this cover! And here's a sneak peek on the content!

"For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie.
Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one."
What do you think?! I think this will be amazing just like Wait For You! Well I think that's already a given since all Jennifer's works are pretty amazing! Right?! RIGHT!

BOOK REVIEW: Heart On A Chain by Cindy Bennett

Heart On A Chain
Cindy C. Bennett

17-year-old Kate has lived her whole life in abject poverty, with an alcoholic father and drug-addicted mother, who severely abuses Kate. At school, her second-hand clothing marks her as a target. Her refusal to stand up for herself makes her the recipient of her classmates taunts and bullying. That is, until Henry returns.

Henry Jamison moved away six years earlier, just as he and Kate had begun an to develop feelings for one another. He returns to find the bright, funny, outgoing girl he had known now timidly hiding in corners, barely speaking to anyone around her, suspicious of even him.

Kate can’t figure out what game Henry is playing with her - for surely it is a game. What else would the gorgeous, popular boy from her past want with her?

Kate finally decides to trust Henry’s intentions, opening her heart to him. Just when it seems he might be genuine in his friendship, tragedy strikes, threatening everything Kate has worked so hard to gain. Can Henry help her to overcome this new devastation, or will it tear them apart forever?
This book deserves a formal novel-long review because it is too beautiful and not writing a good review would just be a crime. But since it's almost midnight where I am and I have work waiting for me tomorrow morning I would just have to postpone my writing. That sucks, but I'll be sure to be thinking over the things I would love to say about this book the whole day tomorrow. During work, yeahh. :)

Update:

Okay. So I want to start writing the review for this book now while having my coffee break and For You I Will by Teddy Geiger being played on repeat. Where to start? Uhmm.. I found this book as one of my recommendations from my Read Shelf. I read the summary and found out it has a high rating and so I wanted to give it a try.

This is the kind of book that will kill you slowly by gripping your heart tight. I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to stop reading and just cry instead. I've read fictions that include abuse but this book affects me like no other books had. This book made me really really sad knowing what Kate was going through this book, in reality is also happening to many children/teens. Bullying, physical abuse inflicted by own parents, emotional trauma, this book is about those. I couldn't relate directly because I have never experienced those, lucky me. But that doesn't mean I don't feel any sympathy towards the main character. I feel so much emotions for her. I cried for her, gripped my chest for I couldn't breathe properly while reading some of the abuse scenes, got angry, so many mixed emotions. But this book is not just all about those stuff. This book is also about friendship and love. I felt jealous with Kate because all those time she had Henry, her best friend, childhood sweetheart and love of her life. Henry's family and his love for Kate made all those pain bearable for her and for the readers. He's like the breath of fresh air in the story and you would find yourself wishing you have someone like Henry in your life.

This book is beautifully written that will leave a mark and make you wish you would be a better person. Salute to Cindy Bennett for making one of the stories that touches people's heart and soul.
