An Open Love Letter for my MiaBanana

Dear MiaBanana,

Hi! Are you getting tired of me yet? ;)

Well... I am writing you a love letter again after all the craziness that is Archer. Why? I don't really know. But you do know I love writing you letters. Maybe because this is the only way I could make you feel how thankful and lucky I am for knowing you. Sometimes I really hate that we live on the opposite side of the world and I can't literally hold your hand when your journey gets a little rough. But maybe someday, we'd be able to do that.

I also want to tell you how proud I am with what AV achieved exactly five days after it is unleashed to the world. I know I've been telling you this a million times already but I won't get tired of repeating it over and over again and I do hope you won't get tired of hearing it.

I know Archer's Voice is your work but seeing its success unfold in front of my eyes has made me so emotional because it feels like Archer's Voice is my baby too. You know how much I love this story when I first read it in its rough draft and I will forever love it. It has somehow, taken a special place in my heart.

I also know how this journey has not been that easy for you; how it's taken its toll on your self-esteem and how you almost drowned in self-doubt. But I just want to thank you for choosing to get over those stuff because if not, the world will never know Archer. Thank you for being strong despite all the craziness that almost dragged you down. Thank you for being brave and hitting that publish button. Thank you for choosing, again, to share with us your story-weaving gift.

But aside from that, I want to thank you for the friendship (although it's a long distance relationship) that I will forever cherish. It is not everyday that a "fan" would be considered a friend by a USA Today best selling author. I don't know when I get this lucky. Beyond the stories that you write which I get to read, is a friendship that bloomed from it.

Thank you for trusting me with your works. Thank you for considering my thoughts a valuable input. Thank you for listening to anything I say, no matter how crazy it is. Thank you for putting up with me always bugging you. But more importantly, thank you for the sweetness and the love.

You know how being an author is never an easy profession, but I just want to tell you to please don't stop and don't ever get tired of writing. There would always come a time when self-doubt would creep in without your permission. But whenever that happens, remember your past works. Remember how people loved the stories you've written and how much your readers love you.

I am one of those readers. But I can also gratefully say that I am one of your friends.

I love you my sweet story teller, and thank you from the bottom of my heart swelling with pride.

Always,

NikkiDoll

Sy reviews: ARCHER'S VOICE by Mia Sheridan

Title: Archer's Voice
Series: Sign of Love Novel
Author: Mia Sheridan

** A Sign of Love Novel based on Sagittarius **

Archer's Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

I feel like my heart is so ready to burst from too much emotion on this book. Like seriously, I think I'm going crazy. I feel like crying and smiling all at the same time. See? Crazy?!

This story and every emotion it has drawn from me was somewhat unexpected. I knew it was gonna be amazing. I knew it was gonna be deep. I just didn't know it was gonna be that amazing and that deep. If I'm not making any sense to you right now, pardon me, I'm still emotional after finishing Archer's Voice like 3 minutes ago.

This book has taken me on a roller coaster ride of emotion. One minute I was laughing, the next minute I was tearing up and the next I was hurting, my heart was hurting! What is it with Mia's men leaving to find themselves? Gosh, that was heartbreaking. Still, I loved how Archer has become a stronger and more confident man after he was gone. Also, can I just say that Bree's character was awesome. I mean, she wasn't weak at all and I love that for a heroine. I also admire how all characters in this story are so likeable. I mean, not Victoria, but everyone else. Even Travis! For some reason, I like Travis. Or perhaps that's just me and my thing for men in uniform, but hey, he came around in the end so all is well.

So here's the thing, I'm kinda emotional lately especially after reading this book so I may or may not have cried while writing these next words. I think Mia has great talent in creating these strong characters and in writing these stories that will surely tug at your heartstrings. I love how Archer's Voice is all about the underdog. How strong that underdog is and how stronger he even became towards the end. How everyone needs friends. How we can hear someone's pain and loneliness in silence. Most of all, I love how this story gave me hope.

If you want to listen to Mia’s playlist, it’s here.
Here is my Archer playlist (sorry we don't have Spotify here in the Philippines!):
I Believe - Christina Perri
Demons - Imagine Dragons
You Fill My Heart - Jason Walker
Echo - Jason Walker

All these songs are my Archer song. Christina Perri's though could be my Bree song but I really wanna talk about Jason Walker's Echo. I'm not sure if I used this song on another review but when I listened to it again it was like I just had a come-to-Jesus talk and He told me that this is Archer's song. I could be over exaggerating here but just go listen. ;)

My alternate rating (diverging from our blog's usual): “Endless and forever” stars
I was so lucky enough to read Archer’s Voice in its rough draft. And finally, three weeks after reading it, I think I had enough time to collect whatever part of me is left and try to write a review for it. I said I’ll try. Don’t get your hopes up so high because I am not sure I’d be able to do this book justice.
Mia blew me away together with those dandelion seeds and brought me to a magical place where Archer and Bree exist. I almost don’t want to go back... Their story opened my eyes more to all the possibilities of how true love should be. It strengthened my belief that love, indeed, is for all. No matter who you are, no matter what you are, no matter the shit you’ve gone through and who or what you’ve turned out to be, you deserve to love and be loved.
You can say that Archer’s Voice is your typical romance novel: girl sees boy for the first time, gets intrigued, asks around, the first meeting, the butterfly-in-your-stomach scenes, the falling in love. Really, all that there is in a romance novel, you can find it in this book. But I kid you not, it is far – SO FAR – from being a typical love story. It defies whatever romance novel stereotype (if it even exists) there is today. And it transcends the usual stuff that we, romance sucker, are used to. It. Is. Different. But different in an exquisite way.
Anyone who has been following my book reviews would know by now that since Leo’s days I’ve already been Mia’s fan. She captured me with her stories, this sweet story teller of mine. I don’t want to repeat myself over and over again so I just went back and re-read my review for Stinger because I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned there a million times how much I love Mia’s writing and I found out I said these things:
"I wanted to say that Stinger is the story I’ve been waiting for my whole life to read but I don’t want to swallow my own words when Mia release another novel for the Sign of Love series, so yeah, I wouldn’t push my luck on that one because I believe in the gift of this woman, and I know for sure that she’ll continue to alter my bookworm universe for as long as she writes.
And boy did she alter my world with Archer and Bree’s story. I am so, so ruined. But the kind of ruin I am so willing to submit myself for if it means I’d be able to experience this again. Sure I read tons of books in a year, but it is not everyday that I could stumble upon something as unique and as moving as Archer’s Voice. I am in awe, as always, with Mia’s ability to make a story that’s so exceptional it would leave you breathless and wanting for more.

With all the things I’ve said, I feel like I can sum up this review in a sentence; that Archer’s Voice IS a genre of its own and that MIA HAS WRITTEN A GAME CHANGER.

~Cast~

Also, I was lucky (again!) to be able to work with Mia in finding my representation of Archer and Bree and it wasn't an easy feat!!! I know we all have our own Archer and Bree in mind but this is what I have in mine.
Ladies, meet my Archer and Bree.

Blog Tour: TWO ROADS by L.M. Augustine

Title: TWO ROADS
Author: L.M. Augustine

~Synopsis~

The only person poetry-loving Cali Monroe hates more than herself is Logan Waters, the geeky kid who lives in the dorm building next to hers.
Ever since Cali's parents told her she would amount to nothing, she has felt entirely inadequate. Friendless and alone, she takes on the mean girl role in hopes it will make her feel better--and Logan serves as the perfect target. He infuriates her with his obnoxiously long lashes, his all too perfect dimpled smile, and his complete lack of personality outside of his intelligence. It doesn't hurt that he's part of the reason her brother is dead, either. So Cali hates him, and he returns the favor. Thus, their prank-filled, insult-driven rivalry is born, and torturing Logan quickly becomes the highlight of her life.
But when Cali's parents set them up on a blind date, she begins to realize Logan might not be as boring as she always thought. He shares her love of poetry, takes a sadistic pleasure in making fun of crepes, and he makes her blush when he calls her smile pretty. And hey, maybe those long lashes of his aren't that obnoxious after all...

So... I got very lucky to know Luke (my nickname for L.M. because he doesn't want to reveal his name apparently even though I begged him to. In return, I'm naming him whatever I want depending on my mood. Okay this is a very long side comment I'll stop now) while he was writing Two Roads and was even luckier when I was approved (okay not really approved, invited maybe) for an ARC. Hooray! Since then, TR is sitting at the top of my favorite geeky books until now. Maybe only another Luke book can topple it off that chart. Who knows? ;)
Almost four months after reading it, I stumbled upon a tweet about a blog tour for TR and of course, I signed up right away! This stop is actually not an additional job for me since I already wrote a review for TR. If you want to read what I had to say about it, just click here. Just a warning, I think I may have gone a little crazy when writing that. And oh, bonus! In that review is also included my casting for Logan. So if you wanna know who it is, click here. Seriously, just click here. Or here. ;)
I can't actually remember what I signed up for during the tour and when Stephanie emailed the schedule, I saw that I am to post or talk about playlist. As much as I wanted to embed the "official" playlist of TR compiled by the author himself, I can't. I know it sucks, but what sucks more than a country where Spotify isn't available yet? Oh yes people I'm not quite sure if we're living in the same planet but it looks like Philippines is in another galaxy because WHY IS SPOTIFY NOT AVAILABLE HERE?! Epic fail, my country. Anyways, if you want to hear Luke's playlist just click HERE and let's hope it takes you to the right link because I can't open the freakin' link myself! Again, click HERE for the official playlist.
So, my country being a bummer and all that. I wanna share my own playlist for Two Roads. Well, if you haven't noticed, our blog's name is The Bibliomaniacs and their Playlists. I think the name alone would give you an idea about the things we do, say or post here on our blog. Yes people, we review books and attach our own playlist to our reviews. We love books as much as we love music so why not put the two together right? ;)
Here's my playlist for Logan and Cali's story :
Pray For You by Jaron and the Long Road
Cat and Mouse by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Petals Back On The Rose by Jaron and the Long Road
Let's Be Us Again by Lonestar
It's Always Been You by Chris August
(If you want to view the playlist on YouTube, click here)

~Playlist~

For my book playlist I had a very hard time looking for songs that would perfectly fit Logan and Cali’s life stories. Really, really hard time. I found this one song and when I heard it, I immediately thought of Logan and Cali and their banters. The whole song doesn’t really fit but ohmygod the chorus is so perfect. You heard the song Pray for You by Jaron and the Long Road? Riiight?!!! If you haven’t heard it, well it’s in the playlist above and I included some lines from the song’s chorus. Here goes:
I pray your brakes go out runnin' down a hill
I pray a flower pot falls from a window sill
And knocks you in the head like I'd like to
I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls
I pray you're flyin' high when your engine stalls
I pray all your dreams never come true
Just know wherever you are, honey, I pray for you
Other songs in the playlists were included because they’re the ones I was listening to while writing this review. The Cat and Mouse by Red Jumpsuit well maybe because of the title. Haha! I am so not good at these stuffs I swear! Most of the songs I chose only have parts that fit TR, not the whole song. Just like this another song by Jaron and the Long Road entitled Petals Back on the Rose:
Can we put the petals back on the rose?
It's been you and me and this stem of thorns from a long time of lows.
Sadness and frustration.
Sometimes that's how it goes.
But baby tonight I start to put the petals back on the rose.
And this part from Let’s Be Us Again by Lonestar:
Look at me I’m way past pride
Isn't there some way that we can try
To be us again
Even if it takes a while
I'll wait right here until I see that smile
That says we're us again
Despite my incompetence on finding fitting songs, I think I nailed it with this one. I chose It’s Always Been You by Christ August as Logan’s song for Cali. Enjoy.
It's always been You
From the day that I saw You
From a heart that was broken
I was changed into something brand new
Like a butterfly learning
How to use my wings to fly like the wind
I gotta make it home again
It's always been You
Seeing deeper than the surface
With a smile You demolish
All my walls You can always break through
To the heart of the matter
No matter what I try to do
When I hide from the sun
You come and change my point of view
And I'm sorry for the things I've done
When You ran to me, I turned to run
But You were waiting when I came undone
And needed something to hold on to
'Cause it's always been You
In the heat of the moment
When the pain was so real
And the scars on my heart were still wounds
I gotta stop hiding
From the one thing that's left to do
I know what I gotta do
And I'm sorry for the things I've done
When You ran to me, I turned to run
But You were waiting when I came undone
And needed something to hold on to
It's always been You
I wake up, I wake up
To the morning light, to Your morning light
I wake up, I wake up
'Cause You shine so bright
I'm sorry for the things I've done
When You ran to me, I turned to run
Yeah, You were waiting, You were waiting
And I'm sorry for the things I've done
When You ran to me, I turned to run
But You were waiting when I came undone
You gave me something to hold on to
Yeah, it's always been You
Oh, it's always been You
Oh, it's always been You

Sy reviews: CHANGING HIS GAME by Justine Elvira

Title: Changing His Game
Author: Justine Elvira

**Warning: This book is for mature readers ages 18 and up. It contains sex, sex, and more sex with a porn star. It briefly touches on M/F/M and M/F/F**

Adult Films. XXX Movies. Porn.

These are the kind of movies I've never planned to watch. It was a taboo topic where I grew up. As a kid I had only heard of it in passing. In middle school my parents would talk about my creepy uncle Frank and how he should look for a job instead of watching "those movies" all day. In High School boys thought it was funny to ask my friends and me to star in the amateur adult films they were making. In college most of my guy friends watched them, but I never had. When I moved to California that changed.

After surprising my fiancé at home and catching him screwing another woman, I hopped in my car and started driving. I was running away from my old life and I needed a change. I remembered my friend Tawny inviting me to visit her in Los Angeles, so that's where I went.

I didn’t find Tawny when I got there, but I did find her gorgeous roommate, Jared. Our friendship started out rough, but he gave me a place to stay and helped me get back on my feet. He became my best friend. My best friend who millions of women happened to lust over.

Jared plays by a different set of rules, where anything goes. His lifestyle is unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed before and it scares me. When you live your life on the edge, eventually you'll fall over. I didn't want to see that happen to him.

At night he’s just Jared, my Jared, and I’ll deny it to anyone who asks, but I’m completely in love with him. During the day he’s Brandon Boner, and the world is in love with him.

Oh yeah, did I mention he’s a porn star?

~Review~

So, I read about a porn star and I liked it. I usually veer away from stories that have warning of M/F/M or F/M/F in it but for some reason, on one night, when was too drunk with mint tea and medicine, I decided to just read this for fun. And boy, did I have too much fun. *giggles*
So Changing His Game is about this porn star named Jared who also goes by the screen name of... Wait for it... Brandon Boner! Can you believe an actual porn star is named that?! I think I laughed for a minute because I couldn't get over that porno name. Anyway, he's a porn star and there's this girl named Autumn who is best friends with Jared's (ehem Brandon) room mate. Autumn went to LA and decided to stay with Tawny for a little while but got face to face with Jared instead. Long story short, Jared and Autumn became friends. Really good friends and somewhere along that friendship they happen to fall in love. Well, I can understand getting attracted to someone like Jared (porn star or not), really, his character is so easy to love. It's hard though to accept the fact and be open to a relationship when you know he has sex with other girls for a living.

I truly enjoyed reading Jared and Autumn's story. Like I said Jared is so easy to love and he can be a douche. Yep, he had his moments but he always redeems himself. I like Autumn too. And I really love how they started off as really good friends and how Jared has been taken with Autumn even before he met her.

Changing His Game is a fun story. It's like a dirtier happy ever after kind of story. And I really loved it. For a story to have that warning at the beginning, I still think this is a good and fun read. I loved the tats, loved the vows, loved Jared's nickname to Autumn, loved the ending.

Here's my Changing His Game playlist:

Blurred Lines remind me of Jared & Autumn's relationship. Beautiful is my song for both of them. One In A Million is my Jared's song for Autumn.

~Review~

Let me start by saying that this is bittersweet for me. I've been so excited to read Forever With You immediately after finishing Found In You but I also am not ready yet to say goodbye to one of my favorite couples. Sometimes I read a book that's too good that you don't even know how to write a review about it and if you do, you're not even sure if you can give justice to it. This is one of those times.
When I started reading Forever With You I told myself I gotta write something about the first few pages of that book. To say I was a nervous wreck is an understatement. I was silently screaming, "Nooooo" and "Oh my God nooo!" Well I could be overreacting but that beginning was written so well and I felt what Alayna must have been feeling that my palms were sweating a bit. No lie.
In this book more secrets were revealed. We'll get to know the characters more, especially Hudson. I know I wrote something before that I love Alayna's honesty. And I'm glad she hasn't lost that frankness in this book. It's disappointing for a reader to love a female character on one book then hate her on the next book because for some reason she inhaled some stupid air, but do not fret people, that didn't happen to our Alayna. I think I even loved her more on this book. I love how every piece of puzzle of this story came together in this book.
There are plenty of scenes of this book that made it to my favorites. One of them is Hudson groveling. I've always enjoyed reading scenes where the man grovels because he has been an ass. Hudson groveling though goes all out. If I were Alayna I don't think I would've held off long enough. My ultimate favorite part though was the I love you one. I have been waiting for Hudson to say it back to Alayna ever since she first told him that. Don't get me wrong, I loved how Hudson showed her what he feels without saying the words but you know, sometimes, a girl's gotta hear it even just once. I think everyone who witnessed their story from day one would jump for joy and won't be able to help it but be completely happy for Alayna when they read that part.
I remember I once mentioned in Fixed On You that it would've been nice to get a little Hudson POV too because he has always been a mystery to me and I'm super happy I got that here too.
To summarize, I think Forever In You is like a dream come true. When reading a series, you start to get to know and fall in love with these characters and begin to have dreams for them when the series ends and I guess all that I ever wanted to happen to the characters have happened here. The road to get to that happy ever after though was filled with tears and pain but it was so worth it.
The Fixed series may sound like another one of those stories you might have read already but I tell you it's not. So if you're one of those readers who is a big fan of happy ever after and is a tad masochist like me, then this book is for you.
Here's my Forever In You playlist:
Say Something - A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera
A Case Of You - James Blake
Stay - Rihanna
Everything - Michael Buble
No Love (I'm Not Used To) - Kevin Edmonds
For You - Kenny Lattimore
Who You Love - John Mayer & Katy Perry
How Long Will I Love You - Ellie Goulding
(If you want to view the playlist on YouTube, click here.)

~Playlist~

Say Something is my Alayna's song for Hudson. When I first heard this song I said this is a perfect song for a book. Then the second time I listened to it I knew it was just the perfect song for Hudson & Alayna. A Case Of You is my song for both of them because of how they cannot seem to get enough of each other. Stay is my Alayna's song for Hudson during the time out. Everything is my Hudson & Alayna song. No Love is my Hudson song. This was during the time out and groveling part. For You is my Hudson's song for Alayna. Heck, this could be their wedding song too! Who You Love reminds me of them too. How Long Will I Love You is my Alayna's song for Hudson because she just loves him unconditionally, even before Hudson said it back.
