 ~Review~

Oh wow. This book has left me breathless. Mia Sheridan literally blew me away with her writing skills in her debut novel.

If ever I consider pursuing my dream as a writer (like seriously), I want to be able to write beautifully like Mia! On the downside, reading this book somehow makes me re-think about my dream job. Because honestly? If I couldn't conjure beautiful thoughts like this woman, then what would be the purpose of writing in the first place?! I think I wouldn't come close, so yeah, I think my dream of becoming a blockbuster author will forever be that, just a dream. *sighs*

“Maybe love is like a magnifying glass straight into the souls of those who own your heart."
“Sticks and stones and fists CAN break your bones, but it's the words that break your heart.”
“How many people truly appreciate what they have because they know what it feels like to have absolutely nothing?"
“It's about being able to rise above even the worst of situations”
“Everyone tells a story about themselves in their own head. That story makes you what you are, dictating all your actions and all your mistakes. If your own story is filled with guilt and fear and self-hatred, life can look pretty miserable. But, if you're very lucky, you might have a person who tells you a better story, one that takes up residence in your soul, speaking louder than the woeful tale you've convinced yourself of. If you let it speak loudly within your heart, it becomes your passion and your purpose. And this is a good thing, the best of things. Because it is the very definition of love, nothing less.”
“All the world's a circus. Sometimes you choose your act and sometimes it's assigned to you."

This book didn't make me cry, not a single tear was shed. But those beautiful words had made residence in my heart. Most words melted my heart. Like this book is a human hand and my heart is a chocolate. I couldn't help but be coated in the sweetness of the thoughts.

I loved this book so much and I can't wait for the companion novel. I think I'm addicted to Mia's writing style. It's like her thoughts are feeding my soul. There's no doubt I'll be reading Leo again in the near future not because I will forget what the story is about but because I want to relive every moment with Evie and Leo. Those quotes above are already embedded in my heart, whatever's left of it. It has been broken many times with the different stories I've read, shattered into countless pieces. And reading Leo has actually pulverized my poor poor heart. But hey, that wouldn't stop me from hunting down good stories like this one. Yes, these stories break my heart but by the end of each one it's like a phoenix rising from its ashes ready to be broken again. A never ending cycle.
Thank you Mia Sheridan for sharing this story to thirsty readers like me. What are we gonna do without indie authors like you? You bring color to our world and please continue to do so. :)
