BOOK REVIEW: Where She Went by Gayle Forman

Where She Went
If I Stay #2
Gayle Forman

It's been three years since the devastating accident... three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever.

Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Julliard's rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future-and each other.

Told from Adam's point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.
So, after gushing in my review of If I Stay earlier I am now moving on to Where She Went. Hmm what can I say about this book? I loved it more than the first one! I don't know if it's because this one was told from Adam's POV or because it's just better than If I Stay, for me at least. Okay fine! I have to admit I loved this more mainly because for the first reason. I don't know what is wrong with me but I tend to like books which are told from a guy's point of view. Not all, but whatever. The reason night be because I am a girl and being one, I already know how girls think in general. It's refreshing to read something that is not what I am used to or what i am already expecting from a girl's crazy and fickle mind.

In this book, I know I am being biased toward Adam, I hated Mia for dropping Adam just like that. But who am I to talk right? I fully understood what Mia was going through in If I Stay, the one thing I didn't was why she decided to fade away from Adam's life? Even when that was explained on the latter part, the whys, I just didn't get it. Or I chose to not understand it. They loved each other for jesuschrissake! What Mia's parents said in the first book, that their love was not the typical high school love that fades eventually. Theirs was a love meant to last but they didn't trust it enough. That was the saddest part, they've wasted three effin years away from each other. Why it has to be that long before they confront one another is beyond me.

BUT! Eventually, of course and definitely should, they found each other again. That's what matters most right? They've finally overcame what was holding them apart and accepted that they truly belong together.

In If I Stay, readers experienced so many loss. So many heartbreaks, so many tear-jerker scenes. With Where She Went, readers experienced Adam's grief and love that made the reading experience biased to any reader who fell in love with Adam in the first book (I am one of those).

Salute to Ms. Gayle Forman!
